Nau mai hoki mai - Welcome to term 2 πŸ‚

Beth Downie —

Welcome back to Term 2 and our newest Kaik Kids - Shyam, Leo, James, Nellie, Tashfeen, Kate and Aleezay. We are so happy you are here.

Term 2 🌟

We are excited for a term full of new learning and wonderment, focusing on Earth - the taonga we treasure.

We will look beyond our small, blue planet and learn about space, planets and stars to further understand and appreciate the innovative ways we use, view and celebrate astronomical systems past and present.

We hope to have a school exhibition to share our scientific learning with our school whānau and community as part of our Matariki celebration.

Property update 🦺

A lot of building work has happened over the school holidays. A new basketball hoop Airtime hoop has been installed; more seating is being built in front of the playground, the carpark and driveway have been sealed, and the grass has grown! The admin block has been handed over, and we watch the backfield and terracing areas come to life!

We welcome you to come to the official opening of the new admin block on Friday, 28/4, at 9:30 am. Our kapa haka group will perform, ribbons will be cut, and speeches will happen. There will be an opportunity to have a look through the new spaces in the building. The school office will operate out of the new block from week 2.

Lost property πŸ‘•

We have 4 black rubbish sacks of unnamed and unclaimed lost property from term 1. This is the last call for the owners before it is donated to the charity store at the end of next week.

Orders close soon πŸ₯§

Please consider supporting our latest fundraiser from Bakehouse on Bond  (Click the link). Orders close next week! Get in soon.

Road patrol πŸ›‘

Can you help our other 12 parent and grandparent road patrol helpers get our children safely across Wright Street before or after school? We are desperately short of helpers and need more! Please email me or roadpatrol@kaikorai.school.nz if you can help!

I look forward to seeing you all on Wednesday, 26/4, for the first day of term 2.

Please don't hesitate if I can help in any way.

Ngā mihi maioha

Beth
