Middle's News

Sarah Gilbert —

This term has begun with a hiss and a roar as the children have been super busy at camp and swimming.

What a fantastic few days the middle syndicate had at Tirohanga! The weather was stunning and allowed us to complete a range of activities. Building bivouacs and pataka in the shade of the forest was fun as it allowed children to work and create together (it was also a great to keep cool out of the hot sun). We would like to say thank you to the huge amount of support from the parent helpers who made our camp run smoothly.

The hangi was a huge success and a special thank you must go to Reihana Haggie who joined us for the night without having any children on the camp.

Another special thanks must to to John Hollows who gave up his time to teach us about yabbies.

Swimming

Middles have been thoroughly enjoying their 8 days at Jill Clarke Swim school. Students have been developing their confidence in water and their skills. Some have been learning the skills of freestyle, breaststroke and even diving off the the side of the pool! The middle teachers have seen a huge improvement in the student's independence and overall self assurance in the water.

Later in the term each class is going to spend two days each learning about structure using the brand new Lego robotics kits. If you know someone in the senior syndicate they can tell you all about it, it’s going to be a lot of fun.
