Kia Ora,

Kererū Hapori has had a great start to the school year, and we are now well underway with our learning programmes. Many of our senior students are already fully involved in our school community. They participate in activities such as Kapa Haka, enviro group, choir, orchestra, ukulele, drama club, PALS, librarians and office helpers.

I would like to welcome our new families at Kaikorai warmly. We look forward to having your whanau as part of our community and supporting your children's learning journey this year.

Thank you to those families who attended our ‘Meet the Teacher’ evening. If you were not able to not attend, we will have parent-teacher interviews from the 11th to the 13th of March.

Project-Based Learning

How can we celebrate and share the beautiful tapestry of cultures in our school community?

In the Kererū team, we are lucky to have many different cultures to celebrate! Over the term, we will learn about each other leading up to a multicultural festival, which you will all be invited to attend. If anyone is keen to come in and share something about their culture, we would love to have you. This could be a tradition, a song, a food unique to your culture, a dance, or anything you are passionate about! Please reach out if you are keen to get involved.

Keeping Ourselves Safe

This week, Constable Ross Greer conducted the initial two sessions of the Keeping Ourselves Safe programme. The main emphasis was on assessing the safety of different situations and understanding the importance of staying safe online. During these sessions, students engaged in discussions about various scenarios, collaborating to identify solutions and learn how to seek assistance when necessary.

Kererū Fitness

This term, the Kererū team is participating in a daily fitness program encompassing various activities such as running, games, endurance, and Jump Jam.

Students will engage in a run on Mondays and Wednesdays and subsequently document their performance on a line graph. This allows each student to monitor their fitness progress over time. Feel free to check in with your child to learn about the distance they can cover within a five-minute timeframe.

Children need to wear suitable clothing and footwear each day to avoid injury and to allow them to perform at their fitness level. Crocs are becoming a problem. If your child likes to wear Crocs in class, please ensure they have shoes appropriate for sports in their school bags.
