Week 7 news

Beth Downie —

To our Kaikorai Muslim whānau, we wish you a very happy Ramadan filled with happiness, peace, and compassion.

It was great seeing so many of you for whānau —teacher learning conversations. I hope you feel informed about your child's learning, how they have settled into the new year, and their next steps and goals.

Please know that our teachers are available to kōrero with you at any stage if you have concerns or need clarity about your child's learning.

Congratulations to our choir, who performed at the Wild Dunedin Festival Choir this morning, our Lit Quiz team, who battled against other book and literature lovers from schools around Otago and our PALs (Physical Activity Leaders), who had their official training from Sport Otago at the Edgar Centre today.

Thank you to Mrs Reid and Miss Mackay, who organised the annual Kaik Kids Easter raffle. See the photo above for all the information. The raffle is drawn next Friday.

On Wednesday next week, our Parents Group have their first fundraiser of the year with a pizza lunch.

Order a slice of pizza and an ice block via www.lunchonline.co.nz (Click the link) - orders close on 19.3.24.

Thank you for supporting our Parents Group; all funds raised go directly back to our classrooms and children.

Last year, I had a visit from an ex-Kaikorai pupil, a graduate of the class of 1964. Jim and his cohort keep in touch regularly and like to plan catch-ups and reunions. Jim could not believe his eyes at the rebuilding of Kaikorai School, vastly different from when he was a pupil here. Fast forward a few months, and we have arranged for the Class of 1964 to visit next Wednesday. It will be exciting to show them around our kura and talk about the changes in education, Kaikorai and life in general for children these days.

I look forward to sharing about their visit next week.

Kia pai ō rā whakatā

Have a great weekend

Beth
