Week 7 Principal news

Beth Downie - June 8, 2023

Welcome to Kaikorai School, Beth and Parishay; we are so happy you are here

Yesterday, I attended a gathering of Beginning Principals in the Otago - Southland region. These meetings occur every term and bring together principals in their first two years of leadership. During this hui, we engage in thoughtful discussions about the various challenges we encounter while leading a school and also recognise and appreciate the privilege of this role. I take immense pride in being the Principal of Kaikorai School and serving the wonderful community associated with it. I am genuinely grateful for the exceptional team surrounding me, including the Board of Trustees, my senior leadership team, the incredible teachers, and  support staff. Our 287 tamariki are thriving Kaikorai Kids, and we are a thriving school. We can all take great pride in our contributions to Kaikorai School; for that, I thank you.

Parent group disco

Our fabulous parent's group are organising a term 3 winter disco. There is a meeting on Tuesday 13th June at 7 pm in the staff room for parents who want to help organise this event.

Road patrol

We have no parents available for road patrol all mornings next week. Wright Street needs you! Can you help?

Please email me or roadpatrol@kaikorai.school.nz Thanks to our 12 parent helpers that take a week's shift or more each term.

Did you know we have a walking bus each morning along Highgate? Thanks to our parents that supervise our walkers. Please let me know if you want to know more about this or are interested in the walking bus route.

Scootering to school

Your child must have a helmet if they are scootering to school. This is non-negotiable. Already, many students have come off their scooters in the wintery road conditions. Please ensure your child is winter ready!
