Book week is in full swing and what fun we are having. The Junior Syndicate has suspended our SPACE focus to enter the world of books, authors and illustrators. by Susan Oldfield

Welcome to the Junior Syndicate news.

Well book week is in full swing. We have suspended our space travels for a week while we explore the world of books, authors, illustrators and Dr Seuss stories.

On Monday we enjoyed a visit from Katherine Van Beek where she shared the story of her cat 'Bruce' and how he became the idea for her new book Bruce Finds a Home.

Tuesday David Elliott came to talk to us about his adventures in Antarctic and how he came to write his stories about Sydney and the Sea Monster.  The children sat enthralled as he talked and then read them his story.

Wednesday Bruce Potter  visited us to talk about being an artist, illustrator and author. What amazing artistic talents he has. If you have got Craig Smith's Wonkey Donkey story then you will see Bruce Potter's illustrations. His doodle art is fantastic.

Each day this week  we have changed classes after morning tea and each teacher has a different Dr Seuss story to share and do a fun activity on. From making Fox in socks ,socks, Horton , Green Eggs and Ham, One Fish Two Fish. A good time to work with a different class for teachers and for the children to have a different teacher.

During the week we have had a different teacher read us their favourite story and had buddy reading with an older class.

Our assembly on Friday was the time to share our learning about books. Parade our "Cat in the Hat' hats and sing some favourite book week songs. PHEW what a week we have had!!!

Next week we will be back into our usual learning routines and once again into our SPACE inquiry. The children have really embraced this focus and this is great to see. No doubt you too will be hearing all the exciting things your child has discovered about the Solar System.

Reminders school doors open at 8.30. Children can come in once the bell goes not before. Please respect this time prior to this as teacher preparation time.

Children need to bring a warm jacket each day as on fine but cold days we encourage them to play outside.

Swimming went very well this term thank you for your support. We hope to get a questionnaire out soon ,so please help us by filling it in.

Happy learning and thank you for all your support for your child's learning

Stay warm!!!.
