Week 1 Principal's news

Beth DownieOctober 14, 2024

He aha te mea nui o te ao? He tangata! He tangata! He tangata! What is the most important thing in the world? It is people! It is people! It is people!

This week has been incredibly special at Kaikorai with the long-awaited opening of our new playspace. As I mentioned in my speech and in the ODT, this project has been a long time coming. One of the highlights was watching our Kaik Kids support each other—whether it was helping a friend on the flying fox or giving a hand to the little ones who couldn’t quite reach the next stepping stone.

A particularly memorable moment came on Tuesday morning when one of our Pīwakawaka students excitedly ran up to me at the gate and said, “I am so proud to be a Kaik Kid—I saw us in the paper!” That perfectly captures the pride and sense of accomplishment that has filled our school this week. It's been a truly proud moment for Kaikorai School.

Welcome back to Miss Rosarah Hardie! We’re thrilled to have you back after your three-month adventure, and a big congratulations to you and Sam on your engagement!

Hats 🧢

A new order of Kaikorai hats has been placed. If your child is waiting for a new hat, please send one from home in the meantime. If your child is not wearing a hat, they must play in the shade at breaktimes.

Class placement 2025

The Leadership Team will shortly be looking at the composition of classes for 2025

When creating class placements, we consider many factors. If there are additional important factors that we may not be aware of but should consider, please schedule an appointment with Beth by November 15th for further discussion. To make an appointment, please email Beth principal@kaikorai.school.nz, send a message on Seesaw, or phone the office at 4640065.

Classes will be published in the school report on 6th December, and no changes will be made after this time.

Can you help with sandpit toys?

In the interests of sustainability and recycling, we would be happy to take any old toys off your hands if they are no longer useful to you.

It would be amazing if you could send us any toys or equipment that could be used in our new sandpit /mud kitchen. Please take them to the office if you want to send them in.
