Welcome from the Middles!

Like always, the first few weeks of school have flown by and we along with the students have warmly welcomed our new teachers Megan Day and Rosie Hardie into our syndicate. Classes have been busy creating artworks, completing assessments and setting up class routines.

This term the major concept we are learning about is relationships. This has linked well to setting up our class rules and getting to know each other. Later in the term we will be looking at relationships through the lens of ‘community’.  We want our children to become active members of their community. We will be looking at ways that we can improve our knowledge or learning through people in our community, and then we will identify our strengths so that we are able to offer something back to our community.

Our other major focus this term is reading. Every afternoon (weather permitting) the middles read with a buddy. This is a chance for us to share something we are reading and find new and interesting books that we may like to read.

Reminders for Middles

  • Homework will start next week for all classes, we understand that children lead busy lives so please contact your child’s teacher if your child is unable to complete homework on a regular basis or you feel it is not beneficial to your child.

  • School opens at 8:30am.

  • As a part of our fitness routine children are running everyday and need suitable shoes to do so.

  • We have sunblock at school for children but appreciate children arriving at school having some already applied.

The Meet the Teacher evening is at 5:30pm on Wednesday 21st of February. You are invited along to bring a picnic dinner at the front of the school followed by a classroom visit at 6:00pm until 6:30pm. Please note this is not a time for discussing individual children, we will be holding goal setting interviews later in the term.

We very much look forward to seeing you there.
