On Tuesday 28th of May, we were treated to our very first personal performance by the full NZ Navy Band. Right from the start they captivated us with their energetic renditions of popular music.
Thanks to the trombonist, Kaikorai Primary was included in their special visit to Dunedin Schools. The Royal New Zealand Navy Band is an extremely versatile ensemble
of full time professional military musicians. The Band's primary role is
to perform as a Military Band providing music for the ceremonial,
public relations, recruiting and entertainment requirements of the Royal
New Zealand Navy, the New Zealand Defence Force and the New Zealand
Government.
Popular music such as Harry Potter, Star Wars and Rock Anthems filled our hall. We were able to experience and hear a whole lot of different instruments including saxophones, clarinets, trumpets, trombone, euphonium, french horn, piccolo and an array of percussion instruments, as they entertained us with the precision and expertise of a well-trained military symphonic band.
