Principal's News 7/3/25

Beth DownieMarch 2, 2025

We welcome Cooper and his whānau to Kaikorai Primary School this week; we are so happy you are here.

Working bee 🐝

A huge thank you to everyone who came out for Sunday's workbee! It was amazing to see such a fantastic turnout, including a very helpful grandad. Despite the 25º heat, we worked hard to assemble our new tables, which are already proving to be a great addition to the school. We're also delighted that some of the old tables have found new homes, including 3 of the tables at the community gardens.

Other schools highly recommend these tables for their sun-friendly metal tops, sturdiness, and generous seating capacity.

Property news 🎨

You may have noticed the container has moved and may be wondering what we plan to do with that space. We are planning to install a set of monkey bars, which we think will be a great addition to our play space.

We also have engaged with Alice the Artist to paint a mural by Rooms 12 and 13. Alice and I have been working to create some concepts based on children's artwork relating to our community and environment, such as rivers, native birds, the Kaikorai stream, and Rākaihautū.

Alice begins her preparation work on the 17th of March.

Please ensure you read the article and book a time slot to meet your child's teacher .

Illness and sickness protocols 🤒

We follow Ministry of Health protocols that state a child should not be at school if they are vomiting or have diarrhoea. A child can return to school after 48 hours (2 days) have passed since the last time they vomited or had diarrhoea.

We strictly enforce these rules, and we thank you for adhering to them.

As always, please don't hesitate to chat with me at the gate or make a time to come in and have a kōrero with any matters concerning your child.

Ngā manaakitanga
