Week 11 news

Eid Mubarak! Wishing our Kaikorai Muslim Whānau peace and happiness on this special day.

As we wrap up Week 11 of Term 1, it's incredible to reflect on the journey we've embarked on so far in 2024. The dedication and hard work of our students and our fantastic educators have been remarkable. The emotional growth, the strides in learning, and the bonds formed between students and staff have been a highlight for me. I wish everyone a restful, safe and well-earned break.

EduLead

Principals across New Zealand are fortunate to have provisions in our current collective agreements that allocate funds specifically for principal leadership and development. Last week, I had the privilege of attending the World EduLead Congress and subsequent MasterClasses in Singapore alongside a thousand other tumuaki and kaiako from Asia, Australia and NZ.

Participating in the conversation about the advancements in AI, which we can harness to facilitate progress and promote equity for all learners, was a highlight for me. I look forward to continuing this learning with our team next term.

Disco

Last night's disco, organised by our Parents Group, was a resounding success, not only in terms of fundraising but also to celebrate the end of such a busy term. Thanks to everyone involved for joining us, especially on such a wet and dark evening.

Celebrating success

We loved sharing our Term 1 learning with you on Tuesday at our Multicultural Festival. Our children gained a lot from sharing their new ideas, knowledge and learning with their whānau. Thank you for coming in.

Well done to all our swimmers who participated in the Otago Champs last week. Miss Wilson's article provides a comprehensive write-up. We are so proud of you.

Epro8 Success: Getting through to the final yesterday was an epic achievement as we saw how challenging the tasks were. Well done for excellent teamwork and problem solving.

Road Patrol

There are 94 road patrol “shifts” next term and 13 permanent road patrollers. If we can find two more volunteers, it would be less than 7 shifts each per term. If you can spare 7 shifts a term (15 minutes or 30 minutes), we’d love to have you! We’re always happy if you’d like to do a trial just to see what it’s like—cancel anytime!
Please reach out to roadpatrol@kaikorai.school.nz if you can spare some time and are keen to get involved in keeping the Kaik kids safe.

Term 2 Staffing changes

We welcome Mrs Sam Baker to the Kaikorai team next term. Sam will teach in Rūma waru | Room 8 next term, where she will welcome and teach our newest Kaik Kids.

Additionally, we're thrilled to announce that Mr Ben Lopas will join our learning support team and look forward to his valuable contributions to Kaikorai.
