We look forward to seeing you all at teacher - whānau learning conversations next week.
This term, teachers have been engaging in excellent professional learning development (PLD). Most of this PLD is undertaken after school, or sometimes teachers are released from their classes to attend a course. Teaching is a job that demands resilience and enthusiasm, and it is important that we are up to date with our thinking, knowledge, and understanding of good classroom strategies and practices.
Although we are only six weeks into the term, we have engaged in new learning about trauma-informed practices, working alongside neurodiverse learners, writing, and Project-Based Learning, and three teachers are completing the Incredible Years Programme.
I think you will agree with me that our commitment to new learning is impressive. As always, thank you to our fabulous team of educators for all they do for our tamariki.
Teachers who are union members will attend a PUM in the coming weeks. Kaikorai will remain open, with relief teachers covering the classes. Some schools are closing so teachers can attend, but Kaikorai Primary School will remain open.
