Principal's news

Meri Kirihimete me ngā mihi o te Tau Hau

This is my last newsletter for 2022, and wow - It has been a year! I have been reflecting on my first year of principalship and recognise and acknowledge the importance of this privileged position. It has been a year of learning for me and will continue to be so for many years to come. The highlight of my day is being at the gate in the morning meeting and greeting. Several principals have told me that I could be spending my time doing something more valuable - but to me, the most valuable part of my day is the check-ins, good mornings and chats I have with our tamariki, and it is truly something I love. I have enjoyed getting to know the whānau at the gate, not just mums and dads but wider family and caregivers. You all are an essential part of the Kaikorai community. I appreciate your support this year.

I want to acknowledge the hard-working staff at Kaikorai. The teachers, our skilled and caring teacher aides, Sharon and Susie in the office and Mike, our caretaker. You make the school hum! You are a passionate, dedicated and fun team and always have the children at the heart of all you do. Thank you for your mahi.

We say farewell and happy retirement to Mr John Bish. John has taught in the middle syndicate for many years, has been a valuable and dedicated staff member, and has always taught with kindness. Thanks, John, for all you have done.

We farewell Hannah Gold and Portia Parmenter, and we wish them well with their new adventures and thank you for your teaching efforts this year.

I wish your whānau a healthy and happy Summer break. May your holiday be filled with laughter, sunshine and happiness.

Ngā manaakitanga.
