Let's Celebrate Ms Downie on Wednesday!

Mā mua ka kite a muri, Mā muri ka ora a mua – those who lead give sight to those who follow, those who follow give life to those who lead.

An exceptional principal shapes character, nurtures aspirations, fosters creativity, nurtures self-assurance, imparts a love for lifelong learning, touches our hearts, and forever transforms our lives.

On Wednesday 1 November, NZEI Te Riu Roa acknowledges the invaluable contributions made by principals in New Zealand to their schools. It's Tumeke Tumuaki Day!

Although Ms Downie assumed her role as our principal at the beginning of 2022, she has already left a profound and enduring positive impact on the staff, students, and the community she leads.

Ms. Downie consistently exemplifies our school's core values of being Kind, Aspiring, Independent and Keen. She instills these values in our students through both her character and her actions.

Her unwavering commitment to the wellbeing of both our staff and the tamariki, her daily presence at the gate to greet each and every student, and her dedication to maintaining a clean, joyful, and captivating learning environment at Kaikorai are truly commendable and are recognised by all.

So on Wednesday, give her an extra smile, tell her what you appreciate about her and make her feel extra special.

Thank you, Ms Downie, for all you do!
