Principal's Message

Important meeting regarding the future of learning at Kaikorai School and its buildings. Tuesday the 13th of September in the school hall at 6pm.

Thank you to all of the families who contributed to the Boards community consultation survey.  The Board have compared this years feedback from previous results and it is very pleasing to see a positive improvement on where we were two years ago.

Thank you for recognising the hard work the teachers do for your children as this was reflected by the 94% of people who were happy with the programmes being taught and the 95% of people who agreed or strongly agreed that their child's teachers provided high quality teaching.

The Board and school have listened to your feedback in both a global context and as individual comments.  We will be conducting some follow up consultation over the next few months.  The full report can be found attached at the bottom of this page.

Our second consultation for the year will be on property matters.  We will be having an important meeting on Tuesday the 13th of September in the school hall at 6pm to discuss what sort of environment you would like your children and the future children of Kaikorai School to learn in.   Lorraine Pearce from the Ministry of Education who has been working with our staff this year on their research projects will facilitate this meeting.

The students have been busy learning about the Olympics over the last 6 weeks and have delighted in the success of the New Zealand team.  We have also reflected on how our school values can relate to the Olympic values.

We have been in awe when athletes have aspired to achieve great things.  Their keeness and independence to work hard to pursue this goal with a relentless drive is something that we could all learn from.  But ultimately it was an act of kindness by New Zealander Nikki Hamblin and American Abbey D'Agostino when they supported each other to finish their race - one of the highlights from the Olympics.
