Beth Downie — August 20, 2024
This week, we welcome Elliott, Ciaran and Francesca to Kaikorai; we are so happy you are here.
Jump Jam Success 🕺🏻
On Sunday we had 4 crews compete and perform at Jump Jam. It was an incredible day and we are so very proud of all of our performers.
A huge congratulations to all our teams for placing and winning trophies.
O'MAthalon Success ➗
Our top senior mathematicians excelled at the O'MAthalon this week, with our Year 5 team earning the title of top team in Dunedin—what an achievement! Congratulations to everyone involved.
Winter Sports 🏀
As the winter sports season draws to a close, it's time to recognise and celebrate everyone involved. A huge shoutout to our Kaik Kids—many of whom were new to hockey, netball, or basketball, and have grown into confident and happy team players. This growth and teamwork are what sports is all about.
We also want to say thanks to all the coaches who made this possible. From big sisters to mums, dads, and grandparents, your dedication to coaching and managing the teams is deeply appreciated. We couldn’t have done it without you!
Before school care ⏰
While the school officially opens at 8:30 a.m., we have observed that some children are being dropped off as early as 8:00 a.m. If you need to drop your child off before 8:30 a.m., please ensure they are booked into Kelly Club for before-school care.
Our classroom doors remain locked until 8:30 a.m. as teachers use this time to prepare for the day.
Lost property 👕
The lost property bin is overflowing with unnamed and unclaimed clothing, primarily winter jackets, all from this term alone. Due to limited space, we are unable to keep these items. Any unclaimed clothing will be donated to a charity store at the end of the term.
Sunhats 🧢
Although it feels odd to mention sunhats after the snow this week, we want to remind you that it's school policy for all children to wear a Kaikorai sunhat during Term 4 (and Term 1). These sunhats are available for purchase at the school office. We recommend sorting this out now to avoid the holiday rush and the possibility of discovering your child’s hat is missing.
Road safety ⚠️
Please do not use the Tyne Street staff car park for pick-ups and drop-offs. It is not safe.
The pick-up and drop-off zone at the front of the school is designated for quick stops only. Do not park and wait there for extended periods, such as five minutes, for your child to come out. If you plan to use this zone for pick-up or drop-off, your child must move promptly to the school gate. Please remind grandparents or babysitters of this rule as well.
Thank you for all your support of all things SCHOOL FAIR related; we appreciate all the donations. Keep them coming!
