The first three weeks of the school year have been filled with getting to know our classmate’s activities and developing a class community. Our first project-based learning topic is all about identity. We are focusing on celebrating who we are and things that are important to our whānau and ourselves. Thank you to the parents who have offered to come in and share your ancestry, special cultural celebrations, and traditions. It is not too late to share with us! Seesaw
Teachers are posting regularly on Seesaw to enable you to see what is happening in our team. Please contact your child’s teacher if you have not received Seesaw posts and announcements.
The Arts Swaps
On a Tuesday afternoon, our senior students take part in a range of activities across the arts and physical education. These include visual arts, drama, dance, Tikanga and Te Reo Māori, P.E. and music. The students are in mixed classes across the team and will have an opportunity to try each activity.
Walk n Wheel Week
Walk n’ Wheel Week is Monday, 27 February - Friday, 3 March.
Walk n' Wheel Week is run by Sport Otago, with funding from the Dunedin City Council, the Central Otago District Council, and the Otago Motor Club Trust.
The event has been designed to promote and encourage active transport to and from school to help reduce congestion at the school gate.
Children are encouraged to walk or wheel (skate, scoot, cycle) to school with a parent/caregiver/older sibling or independently as considered appropriate.

Think about your carbon footprint and the difference you can
make from walking or wheeling. How many eco-cars can you
spot today?
Friday, 3rd March-Foot it Friday
Put your best foot forward and decorate your shoes (add a bow,
pipe cleaners, pom poms, tassels, or wool, go crazy and use your
imagination!) or design your dream shoe!

Long Beach Visits
From the 21st-24th of March will be heading to Long Beach for a day of rock climbing with Tim and the team from Dunedin Climbing. The objective of this visit is to develop self-confidence, be presented with a challenging opportunity, and try something new - all coming under the KAIK value of being keen. Please ensure that you have completed the permission form for this trip.

Kapa Haka

KVC Sports Day
The 2023 KVC Sports Expo will be held on Tuesday, 7 March. The reserve day is Wednesday, 8 March. Students will participate in eight activities in 30-minute blocks from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm and 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm.

Clubs
Students have been busy setting up lunchtime clubs. We now have a comic club, a chess club and a creative writing club. Thank you to the senior students for setting up these engaging activities!
Camp
Our camp dates for this year are the 22nd-25th of November. More information and a request for parent volunteers will be sent out at the start of Term 3. This will allow time for Police Vetting to occur.
We need more volunteers for the sausage sizzle. Unfortunately, if we can not secure helpers each Friday, we cannot continue to fundraise in this way.

Sunhats
Please ensure that your child has a school sunhat for this term. Sunhats need to be clearly named. If your child requires a new hat, these can be purchased at the office for $18.
