Communication & Newsletters

We are committed to maintaining strong, meaningful communication between school and home. Our fortnightly newsletters are released digitally every second Thursday and shared directly with students, parents, and caregivers through Hero, our school communication platform.

For those who prefer to browse updates at their own pace, newsletters are also available on our school website. You can also stay connected via our regularly updated Facebook page, which highlights events, reminders, and celebrations across our school. Using these digital platforms helps us keep whānau informed in an efficient, accessible, and environmentally friendly way.

Hero App

The Hero app is our central hub for communication. You can receive notices, check key dates, report absences, and engage with your child’s learning.

As part of our updated reporting approach, students now share examples of their work with you at least once per week via Hero or on their school device. These pieces are works in progress, designed to give you a real-time window into what your child is learning—not polished final products. We encourage you to look through the work weekly and have conversations with your child about their learning.

To get started, download “Hero by LINC-ED” from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store and follow the setup instructions.

Reports

We have refreshed our reporting approach to better support ongoing and meaningful communication with whānau. Two formal hard-copy reports are sent home each year:

  1. Settling-In Report – early in the year

  2. Progress and Achievement Report – later in the year

After each report is issued, we hold a report feedback evening. This is an opportunity for students, whānau, and teachers to come together and discuss progress, goals, and next steps in detail.

While reports themselves are provided on paper, additional information and weekly work samples continue to be shared through the Hero app.

Stationery

To support a smooth start to the year and reduce pressure on whānau, we provide all basic stationery for every student. This is issued to students in their classrooms on the first day of school. Any extra items required across the year can be purchased as needed.

Uniforms

Each new student receives a free basic uniform set, which includes:

  • 1 formal shirt

  • 1 pair of formal shorts

  • 1 PE shirt

  • 1 pair of PE shorts

This support is available until the end of Week 3.

Additional uniform items can be purchased from our on-site Uniform Shop, which is the only place these items are sold.

The Uniform Shop is open the week before school begins from 9.00am–3.00pm. During the school year, it operates by appointment only.

Payment options include:

  • Major credit cards

  • Cash

  • WINZ quotes

  • Automatic payments

  • Lay-by (items must be fully paid before collection)

Lay-by options are available now for those who wish to spread the cost across time.
