He mihi mahana ki a koutou katoa,

The overwhelming feeling at Kamo High is one of relief. Relief to be back in our learning, relief to see our colleagues and friends in person and relief in the fact that we can start to get back to our usual - albeit with a focus on our hygiene practices.

On Thursday it was fabulous to welcome back our students to learning on site. We have had far more students return than in the previous lockdown and I think we are all understanding better how we can respond to this ongoing COVID annoyance with care and precaution.

We have had a hugely positive response from our students about the transition timetable. Our students are getting the balanced time to reflect, review and then act on what they need to, for their learning. Students are taking the time in the Whakahauora blocks to learn more strategies to support their wellbeing, and in Enhancement time have the opportunity to engage in an aspect of their learning need in a deeper way. The ninety minute learning blocks are providing the space for a more personalised approach to learning and allow for students to have time to check in with their teacher and gain the support needed to move forward.

Our school is very settled! Thank you for sending your students back to school prepared for learning.

You may have seen in the Media that NZQA have made some adjustments to the Learning Recognition Credits for our Year 11-13 students. It is great to see the support applied for our students and it comes as a great relief for many. Please find the details of the changes here in this newsletter.

Lastly, we have had a new set of designs presented to us for our new building plans. Please take time to look at the design work that has been applied to the blank canvas that we have previously shared. It is fantastic to see the plans progress and I will continue to share the developments as they come through.

Enjoy your wā whakata (weekend)
