R Tucker Thompson Voyage

KHS Editor —

Marija Mason (K05) recently chose to take herself out of her 'comfort zone' and sailed on the R Tucker Thompson for 7 days.

She joined the crew and students from other Northland Schools for a Conservation Week Voyage - 2402. She had an amazing time and would have learnt an 'immeasurable' amount on board the traditional gaff-rigged schooner.

This is a snippet from the crew report, 'It was an amazing week with lots of hiking, snorkeling, looking at ink pads for giant weta tracks with Project Island Song, swimming, climbing the mast, talking with the crew of a Waka Hourua, and obviously sailing … oh and a kiwi encounter on one of the islands. They ticked all the boxes on this voyage!'
