ANZAC DAY - What it Means?
A certain pandemic has put paid to a number of school events over the last 2 years including our formal attendance at ANZAC Day dawn ceremonies.
A member of the Hikurangi community spoke to me during the Term break. They wished to communicate that one of our students was present for their dawn parade, wearing full school uniform and he demonstrated a maturity beyond his years in relation to what was going on. Back at school I asked Connor Guy what Anzac Day meant to him. Here is his story.

Connor Guy story
Every Year on ANZAC Day, my sister Georgia and my mum, March in the Hikurangi Parade. We march for my Great Grandfather who served in WWII. As we don't have his medals with us in Whangarei we march with a White Cross we made for him and my sister also made a wreath to put on the memorial. After the march we have a small service at the Hikurangi School Hall.
I stand in Remembrance of all the men and women who fought for us, Lest we Forget.
