Experiencing Marine Reserves

KHS Editor —

On Thursday 2 March we had 29 students attend a day at the Reotahi Marine Reserve. The goal of the day was for students to see how the marine reserve is restoring the Whangārei harbour through it's environmental work. This day was particularly important as the marine reserve was originally established by students at Kamo High School during their Geography curriculum.

Students had a great day exploring the marine reserve through snorkelling and rock shore activities that saw them surveying the shoreline and identifying pests in the harbour.

Thank you so much to Samara and her crew of outstanding guides from EMR for making this day possible. We look forward to continuing to strengthen the relationship between Te Kura Tuarua o Te Kamo and Experiencing Marine Reserves."
