Sports
While the Seniors are all off with their study leave/exams it is all happening for our Junior students.
Recently our Mixed Junior Touch team headed north to Kaikohe to participate in the NSSSA Junior Touch Cup Tournament. For some in the team this was their first time jamming on the touch field, trying something new and they sure looked as though they were enjoying it. Whilst some of the results didn’t go our way, we didn’t have any blowout scores and all games were really close competitions and we came away with some wins, some losses and a whole heap of banter between this lot!! Thanks heaps to teacher Sean Henwood that helped out with our team on the day.
Last week saw our Junior Girls Volleyball team take part in the NSSSA Junior Girls Volleyfest. These girls just came together as a team on the day, no trainings, no real experience just to have some fun! And it goes to show, when you are having fun you get the results! 4 games of 3 sets all undefeated!!
Nice work girls….we look forward to seeing you all on the volleyball court more next year!
Most recently, our Junior Boys Volleyball team yesterday competed in the NSSSA Junior Boys Volleyball Cup where they came away with the win, undefeated all day. They took on Northland College in their semi final and then Bay of Islands College in the final. There was a great display of volleyball on show, well done to all teams who took part. The results of this tournament are to determine our KHS Junior Boys seeding for their upcoming North Island Secondary Schools Junior Volleyball Tournament to be played in Mount Manganui next week. We wish them all the best for their travels and tournament and look forward to following their progress.
Next week we see the remaining events for NSSSA Sports for 2022, being Junior Tennis Doubles and Girls Badminton. We have good numbers participating in both of these events and look forward to it.
