NCEA Numeracy and Literacy

KHS Editor —

NCEA Numeracy and Literacy examinations are taking place in terms two and three of this year, a calculator is required.

Here at Kamo High School, integrated learning of contextualised Numeracy and Literacy occurs across all learning areas. To plan for success, all junior students should purchase a scientific calculator, to enhance their capacity to develop the required skills.

Recommended calculator: Casio FX82AU Plus II. Please purchase a calculator for your child in the next two - three weeks. This can be bought from the following stores: The Warehouse, Officemax, Warehouse Stationary, Harvey Norman and other selected retailers.

If you foresee difficulty with making this purchase, please see the front office for help.

More information on how your child can best prepare for these examinations will be posted in the next newsletter.

Senior Students: All students who do not have literacy and/or numeracy at NCEA level 1, have been enrolled to sit the respective exams.

Junior Students: Year 9 students took part in progressive assessment tests earlier this year, students who were deemed ready will sit the upcoming examinations and have the opportunity to gain the Level one literacy and/or numeracy co-requisite. All year 10 students have been enrolled to sit these exams.
