A word from the Principal - He kupu nā te Tumuaki

KHS Editor —

He mihi mahana ki a koutou katoa, warm greetings to you all.

As we near the end of the term it is vital that our students manage themselves to maintain and/or live up to the expectations that we set.

Can we please ensure that all of our students are at school:

  • Dressed in appropriate school uniform - it is getting colder so please check your child has the correct school items to wear

  • Ready for learning - this means that they have all of the correct equipment to undertake the classes for the day

  • On time for learning, both at the start of the day and throughout the day.

Our students should all be working hard to complete assessments and units of work so please support your child to ensure that they are present for all learning activities.

Attendance in class directly relates to achievement!

For Term 2 this year I have successfully gained a sabbatical. This means that I will not be at Kamo High School for the term. Instead I will take some time out to study and to visit other schools in New Zealand with the purpose of bringing back new ideas and strategies to assist us as we continue to adapt and improve as a school.

I always say to the students that lifelong learning is important, and I get to demonstrate this first hand by ensuring that I continue to develop as an effective leader for Kamo High School.

The school will be in very capable hands with Whaea Amy Tipene stepping up from Tumaki Tuarua/Deputy Principal to the Acting Tumuaki/Principal role. I know she will do a fabulous job of looking after the kura in my absence and know that you all will support her in the same way you assist me.

Ngā mihi

Natasha and the SLT
