Pathways and Gateway News

KHS Editor —

Kia Ora Parents / Caregivers

For those that I have not met formally, my name is Lisa Lawrence, and I am the new Gateway Coordinator working alongside Grant Angus, Pathways Director whom most of you are familiar with already.

I am very excited to be part of the whānau at Te Kura Tuarua o Te Kamo and working with our students in their learning journey, being able to provide support and opening new opportunities to assist with their success in preparation for life after school.

Placements: We have secured 36 placements already in multiple areas providing a broad range of learning opportunities for our students.

Interviews: Grant and I have been interviewing over the last 2 weeks all Year 13 students who have expressed an interest or required guidance with their career path. These are nearing completion. We will follow through with Year 12 and Year 11 student interviews thereafter.

We were hoping to have all students including Year 11s interviewed by the end of week 5……this could be a stretch!!

Gateway Placements / Work Experience: I will attempt to have all students allocated to their placements/work experience by the end of week 10 to make ready to commence in Terms 2 and 3.

Meanwhile, the Pathways team are supporting the school kaupapa to ensure that students gain credits from their Term 1 assessments. This is a school wide focus for our senior students.
