A word from the Principal - He kupu nā te Tumuaki

KHS Editor —

He mihi mahana ki a koutou katoa, warm greetings to you all.

This term has been a tough one for us in terms of sickness both for staff and for students. We have limped through to the end of the term without having to close the school. However, with cases of COVID on the rise I am not sure how much longer we can continue to stretch the good will of our staff and our small pool of relievers. I am hoping that the term break creates enough of a circuit breaker for us here, however, if needs be we will have to adjust our plan of action next term for sustainability.

It is extremely; important for parents to advise us when a student is away from school. Our attendance rates are concerning when 10% of non attenders provide no reason for their absence. We can not support our students and families if we are unaware of the issues. We have multiple ways for you to advise us when your child is not at school. We have the school app, you can phone in to (09) 435 1688 or via email absences@kamohigh.school.nz.

Please help us to help you. Next term we are going to be making home visits for people that we have not heard from. We want our learners in school and learning so that they can enhance their lives and those around them by receiving an education.

We look forward to a break to revise and energise, and to return to school for what we all know is the business term of the year!

Ngā mihi
