A word from the Principal - He kupu nā te Tumuaki

KHS Editor —

He mihi mahana ki a koutou katoa,

It’s been an historic week domestically and internationally. Both the events at Parliament and in Ukraine are sobering. Both will have long-term effects. I know these events may have impacted you, your families and our tamariki directly, and they have also been felt throughout Aotearoa. We send our aroha out to those in Europe dealing with a conflict at a level I hope we never get to witness first hand in New Zealand and our thoughts and wishes go out to our local community who have family and friends directly related to any conflict.

I am very aware that the levels of anxiety amongst our families and our young people is elevated at the moment with the omicron outbreak continuing to move its way through our community. At Kamo High School we are all working through this ever changing space to ensure we can provide a safe space of learning for your young people. We are at this stage still assuming our business as normal operation. However, we do have our plans for the hybrid model if it is needed.

Just a heads up for families when they are looking at their child’s engagement data as there may be a few gaps appearing over the next few weeks. Where a reliever has had to cover a lesson we are not expecting the engagement data to be added for that lesson.

We hope you have a safe and relaxing weekend

Ngā mihi
