New Gateway Coordinator

KHS Editor —

Kia ora, my name is Merryn Robinson and I am your new Gateway Coordinator.

What is a Gateway?

The Gateway programme is designed to strengthen the pathway for senior students to progress from school into the workplace. It provides students with structured workplace learning across a range of industries and businesses while you continue to study at school.

I am really looking forward to supporting any senior student who is wanting to ‘test drive’ different career/work options. We can work together to find an awesome work placement in a field of your choice to get real-world working experience, plus gaining related industry NCEA credits.

Who is eligible for Gateway?

  • Senior students (priority to Year 12&13) who have a good attendance record

  • Students who have a desire to explore a particular career path

  • Students who are ‘work ready’ and want some ‘hands on’ experience first

  • Students who have whanāu support and approval

  • Students who can keep up with academic studies while out on placement (Gateway is in addition to school based subjects)

Please check out the Careers google classroom for all senior students and if any jobs come into us we will post them there and in school notices and newsletters.

Please feel free to drop into the Gateway office during intervals, lunchtimes or after school for a chat, pick up a brochure, or application form. I am behind the Dean’s Room - I am happy to support you however I can!

                              GATEWAY APPLICATIONS ARE NOW OPEN!

Ngā mihi

Merryn
