GET2GO CHALLENGE
Tuesday saw something new for us with us entering a team of 8 Junior students into the Hillary Outdoors Northland Get2Go Challenge. This was a new experience for these students which saw some of them really stepping outside of their comfort zones giving something new and challenging a go. It was so awesome to see the team spirit and encouragement coming from one another and also a few laughs along the way!! The challenges involved a mounting biking time trialled race, paddleboarding and Kayaking races and an orienteering challenge which saw us travelling to various different locations around the Whangarei area. Official results saw us come in at 4th place out of 10 teams. This is an awesome result for these students who really showed true KHS Values to themselves, their peers and their opposition on the day! Team members were: Mia Turner, Django Harris, Noah Cook, Harry Ackers, Bailie Mephan, Mollie Parker, Will Cook and Gemma Viccars.
FOOTBALLCongratulations to our Girls Football who took out their competition beating Kerikeri High School on penalties in their Girls Div 2 Football Final on Wednesday. It was a 1-1 draw at full time but our girls managed to get it over them with a 3- penalty shootout! Well done to the team and their coaches Gemma and Ivan on their huge success.Unfortunately our Boys football went down to Kerikeri High School 3-0 which means they end up 4th in the Premier/Div 1 Boys Competition. This again is a huge success taking out the Div 1 competition and then challenging themselves against the Premier sides. To only loose 3-0 is awesome!!This sees the end of the Mid Week football competition with our teams now turning their focus towards training for Tournament week at the end of this month.
RUGBY
We (Whangarei Composite team) hosted Dargaville High Wednesday afternoon in the first round of the Northland Secondary Schools 1st XV Rugby competition and wow what a display of rugby! We ended up taking out the win 92-3 with the game being called off 10 mins early. Well done boys. We look forward to following your season. This week's team was made up of 13 Kamo High students, 6 WBHS students and 3 Pompallier College students.
HOCKEYAfter a couple of weeks of no games for our girls, they take on Mangapai tonight and we wish them all the best for that game.
