SHOWQUEST
On Saturday 2nd of July our ShowQuest team represented Kamo High School in the Northland ShowQuest competition.
An extremely enjoyable day was had by all. After 2 terms of creating, planning, developing and rehearsing, it was finally time for us to take the stage.
Excitement was rising as we were escorted to our dressing and rehearsal room at Forum North. From here the hustle and bustle began. We started getting into costumes, cutting and tying pieces of fluro tulle onto each other and sewing last minute dresses together.
This was followed by our final rehearsal and pep talk by our fantastic director Trey Gilmour.
Then it was time! The stage and film crew arrived to walk us backstage. There was a mixture of nerves and excitement as the team took to the stage for the pre performance brief and stage rules. From here our diligent lighting technician Django could be seen sitting up in the lighting desk, headset on, lights set and ready to go.
For some, this was the first time performing on stage, for others it was no new feat, but for all, the pride, energy and happiness post performance would suggest this will not be the last time Kamo High School performs at ShowQuest.
We want to give a huge thank you to ShowQuest NZ for giving us an opportunity to showcase Kamo High School’s talent. We also want to thank the person behind this, Mrs Gardner for her hard effort to help make our dreams come true.
Below are some of the photos taken of the spectacular event. Professional video footage still to come, keep an eye out on the school Facebook page to view.
