Te Kamo High School

Blaze and Will in Action

Mountains - to - Sea

KHS Editor - February 29, 2024

Over the summer Kamo High School students Will Cook and Blaze Nicholas volunteered their time as snorkel guides for Experiencing Marine Reserves.

They have been selected to participate in our 'Marine Mahi for Rangatahi' project for young people that have an affinity with the moana, focusing on marine pest detection, marine biodiversity monitoring, snorkel guiding, marine reserve/ rāhui surveillance and marine education. This also involves an opportunity to be selected for work experience with Dive! Tutukaka during the spring of 2024.

We have the last daytime community guided snorkel day at Reotahi this Saturday the 2nd March to celebrate Seaweek from 10am - 3pm and we are looking for more young people to get involved as trainee snorkel guides. There is also the opportunity to be selected for our 'Marine Mahi for Rangatahi' project. If you are interested in volunteering with us and learning more, you can sign up here.  If you can help this Saturday, please sign up here and if you are keen to to support the night snorkel in the marine reserve on the 26 March as a trainee guide sign up here.
