MacDiarmid Institute DiscoveryCamp and NanoCamp – Application deadline now extended to 17th September!

We previously wrote to you to confirm that applications had opened for these camps in January 2022. I am now writing to let you know that, due to recent changes in Covid Alert Levels and the disruption they have caused, we have extended the application deadline to Friday 17th September 2021. We would therefore appreciate it if you could please let your Year 12 and Year 13 students know they’re still able to apply. The annual all-expenses paid DiscoveryCamp and NanoCamp programmes will run between 16th and 21st January 2022, with NanoCamp taking place in Auckland and DiscoveryCamp being run in Wellington.

NanoCamp and DiscoveryCamp for current Year 12 and 13 secondary school students are hugely popular and highly contested. The five-day, all-expenses-paid residential programmes give students the opportunity to learn about nanoscience through lectures and lab experience with MacDiarmid Institute investigators. DiscoveryCamp is designed specifically for Māori and Pacific Island students, while NanoCamp is open to any students with a strong academic background and passion for science. We previously sent out four posters in the post (two for each type of camp), along with a cover letter explaining the details of the camps, so that you can pass along the details to your eligible students. We have also attached copies of the posters to this email so that they can be distributed in your school newsletter if that is appropriate, or printed as additional copies; however, please note that they have the old application deadline.

Applications for DiscoveryCamp and NanoCamp 2022 are now open and will close on 17th September 2021 (extended from the previous deadline of 3rd September 2021).
