Rainbows End - Physics Trip

Kerri-Anne Reagan —

After a couple of delays, our SCI101 students managed to make it down to Rainbows End on Thursday 20th October for our Physics trip!

We had a nice early start leaving school at 7:30am with a fun bus ride and some minor disagreements over music tastes. We arrived at our destination for a fun day of rides, laughter and teamwork.

The first stop for many after the bathrooms was the Stratosphere and Fearfall where we got to listen to the delighted screams as we enjoyed our morning coffee. There was a lot of screaming, laughter and fainting that didn't deter others as the rides remained popular. The Fearfall was even more fearful as in weeks prior it had broken down leaving people at the top for longer than anticipated. Thankfully it was in good working order for the day!

The Go-Karts and bumper boats proved a big hit with those more competitive on the trip. For those who enjoy a more puzzling experience, the Escape Room was greatly popular. Lasertag and the arcade were great recovery spaces when stomachs had been upset from too much G-force on the adrenaline inducing rides!

Before we knew it, it was time to board the bus and head home where you had to be on high alert as you were likely to get hit with a water gun when your back was turned! Missing the worst of the traffic we had a great drive back with spirits high and having a happy end to Science before the stress of exams hits.

Despite taking 95 kids out, it felt like we only had 30. The kids represented Kamo High with pride and have worked so hard to come along on the trip. As a teacher, I love taking our kids outside the classroom where I get to see the young adults they're becoming and see them happy, laughing, engaged, and just being their incredible selves. They make all the work worth it and a massive thank you to all the students for an incredible year. You're amazing :)
