A MYSTICAL VIEW

KHS Editor —

One of the Year 9 students wrote this while on camp. We thought it would be lovely to share as we thought it captured the sunsets on camp beautifully.

An evening on camp was particularly special, specifically the first.

Most winged creatures flew across the deep, purple/grey sky.

Yes, they’re small birds of prey; not much of a doubt.

Still… The lighting denies my eyes’ request for identification.

The sky was painted lavender with a nearly transparent grey covering.

Idly hanging above the ocean were the light violet clouds.

Captivated by the view, add the ocean glimmering with a golden bloom.

A gold to compare with Egypt’s flaming desert sands.

Let that set the scene for the pink that breaks through the distant hills.

View the ocean waves that sway my calm emotions, let the gold highlights be seen.

I can look up and be directed by the doves that fly freely, can you not?

Ending my admiration, I comprehend that no moon will show on this night.

Why can’t I still feel disheartened?

A view such as this was mystical, dusted with magic.

The moment I won’t soon neglect.

No matter the years to come.

Lest the others lose their vision.
