A word from the Principal - He kupu nā te Tumuaki

KHS EditorSeptember 4, 2022

He mihi mahana ki a koutou katoa, warm greetings to you all.

School seemed very quiet this week with so many students away at Winter Tournament Week. It has been great to follow their progress across the week and to see all of the photos and videos shared on our Kamo High School Facebook page as well as the Kamo High School Sports page. If you do not already follow these pages, please make sure that you do.

What I am immensely proud of is how our athletes have conducted themselves whilst at their different venues around the North Island. I have been receiving feedback on how the students have been going from colleagues, and other schools, and they all have commented on our students' positive spirits, and fairness in competition. Well done to all of our students for demonstrating our school TĀTOU values outside of our school.

We are nearing our Derived Grade examination time which is very important for our Senior students. I ask that parents please ensure that your child has a plan for study and is aware of where they need to be and when.

Our Junior students, current Year 9s going into year 10, junior handbook is going live today. Course selections are important to ensure we have enough resources to run certain classes, so please make sure if your child is in Year 9 this year that they are discussing with you what they want to take by way of subjects next year.

Lastly, it is with mixed emotions that I share with you that Whaea Maria Dunn, one of our Deputy Principals will be leaving us at the end of this term. Whaea Maria leaves our kura to take on the Principalship at Mangakahia Area School. We wish her well on her leadership journey. As always when one door closes another one opens and we have advertised to fill the Deputy Principals' role which we aim to have in place permanently at the beginning of Term 1, 2023. This will be a fantastic opportunity for someone to add value to our kura as we continue to progress our curriculum forward.

Ngā mihi

Natasha and the SLT
