Leavers Hoodie
A Year 13 student had volunteered to be in charge of organising a design to place on the Year 13 leavers hoodies, to replace the school logo.
‘Nāku te whakapono nāu te matauranga ka ora ai te iwi’
With my trust, and with your knowledge the people will live
This whakatauki gives acknowledgments to the partnership that has been built between all cultures within Te Kura Tuarua o Te Kamo. This has been established over the years and is progressing successfully through the school. The design incorporates the five tātou values that our school encourages our students and teachers to implement into their learning and teachings can be seen in the outcome of student success.
This korero was inspired from Matua Dick, early hours of Saturday 6th August at the ceremony blessing of Te Puna a Puna.
SPORTS CELEBRATIONS
Basketball
Our A and B school basketball teams participated in the Secondary Schools Basketball tournament on Friday, 19th August and the following Thursday.
Our Friday competitors went out gunning for a top placing. They managed to take some wins, but came away with a few losses under their belt too. Unfortunately the odds did not work in their favour, placing 7th overall.
Our Thursday crew also went into the competition ready to make a good placing. More wins than losses were taken away from this competition as they placed 4th overall. With exceptional playing from both teams, fun was shared between everyone.
Well done boys, keep the good work up.
Up-coming Iwi-sports
In Week 9 (week starting Monday, 19th September 2022) our iwi sports will be returning, starting with Basketball.
Each team must consist of 5 players, and 2 of those players must be a junior boy and junior girl. In Week 10 we are looking at introducing Touch as the next iwi sports, so keep an eye out for the next 2 weeks of notices.
