Summary of 5 July 2022 Board meeting

The KNS Board met on 5 July. It was the first time the Board had met in person in 2022.

The Board reviewed the school’s progress on Charter Goal 3 – Wāhi / Place. As Conrad noted in a recent newsletter, there is finally some progress in addressing the school’s property deficiencies. There is now momentum in relation to the MoE’s plans and timelines for KNS’s major capital works projects. The Board is hopeful that soil will be turned on one of the projects - the building of a new eight class block between the Admin Block and the Hall – early next year.

There has also been good progress on Charter Goal 4 – Rangapū / Partnership. Feedback from parents and caregivers was that they wanted KNS to communicate via a smartphone app, and that is what the school has delivered with HERO. The school newsletter is now being sent using HAIL, an e-newsletter platform. KNS is working on other communication improvements.

The Board also discussed the upcoming Board elections. Parents and caregivers have received information on how to nominate themselves or someone else and the Board encourages anyone who is interested to put themselves forward for election. Please see Bron Barbarel’s recent letter on HERO for more information. Anyone interested in standing for the Board is welcome to contact Bron, or any other member of the Board, to find out more. Board member contact details are on the school website.

The date of the next Board meeting is yet to be confirmed, but will be published in the school newsletter. Board meetings are open to the public.
