Message from the Principal

Conrad Kelly —

E te whānau, tēnā koutou katoa,

A busy week taking advantage of the sunshine:

  • Our Year 1 team hosted a ‘Stay and Play’ morning for parents/caregivers yesterday. We are very keen to re-connect post-COVID, ‘Stay and Play’ provided a great opportunity for whanau to gain an understanding of what happens at KNS during the day.
  • Our Year 7 & 8s in Rooms 19, 20 and 21 are on camp at Lake Rotoiti this week. They had a smooth ferry crossing yesterday and all is going well. They return to Wellington on Saturday.
  • Our Year 4 to Year 6 children have had a great athletics sports at Ben Burn Park today. Many thanks to our Year 4 to 6 teachers and to the many parent helpers who made the event possible; look out for results in next week’s newsletter.

Our gala committee met yesterday to continue planning for this year’s ‘Pop up Gala’, taking place from Wednesday 09 November through to Friday 11 November. A huge thank you to our organising committee; Naomi Lane, Belinda Robins and Elaine Buchan, for your great work on behalf of our school. Watch out for a separate ‘gala newsletter’ next week.

This term we welcome Suz Bassett to our office team as our new medical room officer and Ros Ross joins us as our sports administrator. We look forward to working with them.

Sun Safety – Term 4

In Term 4 children are expected to wear a sunhat when outside. Please note the following points regarding sun safety in Term 4, we appreciate your support in keeping the children ‘sun safe’.

  • Children are able to bring their own hats to school as long as it is a sun-safe hat i.e. a bucket hat or wide brimmed hat. We would also like children to wear their hats to and from school.
  • All children are expected to wear a hat when they are outside at school in Terms 1 and 4
