Message from the Principal

Conrad Kelly —

E te whānau, tēnā koutou katoa,

Last week around 300 KNS children from Year 1 to Year 8 took up the opportunity to perform at the Michael Fowler Centre, as part of the Artsplash and Dancesplash Festivals. It was great to see so many of our children showing the commitment required to be part of a performance group and also seeing the smiles on their faces that came from the satisfaction of knowing they had worked hard and been part of something really special. A huge thank you to all the staff and parents who worked very hard in the background to make this possible.

We are very fortunate to have Kane O’Connell as our Arts Leader. Kane’s enthusiasm, meticulous organisation, passion and determination to provide arts opportunities, is a key factor in why so many children can experience so much at KNS.

Rm 26/27 Kaitiakitanga and Sustainability

Our Year 7 & 8s in Rm 26/27 have been learning about kaitiakitanga and sustainability. As part of their learning, two groups are taking action. It would be great if you could support these students through:

  • Providing items for a food drive this Friday 23 September.
  • Sending in fabric scraps to be upcycled.

Further details can be found in this newsletter.

KNS Board

The first meeting of our new board was held on Tuesday evening, a summary of discussion will be included in next week’s newsletter.

Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Day

A reminder that this coming Monday 26 September marks Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Day and is a public holiday.

Year 0 to Year 7 Children Not Returning to KNS in 2023

As you are aware we have begun planning our staffing and class organisation for 2023. It would be very helpful if you could inform us, if your child will not be returning to KNS next year. If your child is in Year 0 to Year 7 and he/she will not be attending our school next year, please email Vicki Lewington, vlewington@kns.school.nz , informing her of your child’s last day at KNS and which school he/she will be attending in 2023. Thank you to those parents who have already done this.
