Kids Lit Quiz

Jacqueline Wee —

On Wednesday 5th April two teams took part in the Wellington Heats of the Kids Lit Quiz, a worldwide quiz about children’s literature.

The children answered 10 rounds of questions on topics such as Adventure, Manga and Pigs!

Both teams, along with our reserves Vivian and Eliza have been reading and working hard all term preparing for the quiz. There were 48 teams in the competition. One team, with Olive, Patrick, Lucy and Ayla were 16th, placing in the top 3rd of the competition. Our other team, with Emmett, Lola, Hannah and Sienna, came first! This team will now take part in the National Finals on Saturday 17th June at the National Library. All the children, pictured here with Wayne Mills the Quiz Master, were great ambassadors for our school.

Here is an account of the competition written by Lola, one of the members of our winning team;

My experience at the Wellington Kids Lit Quiz was very fun! I didn’t expect to win at all, but I was amazed and delighted, and I’m very excited to go to Nationals. All the questions were really interesting and I have to say we didn’t have an easy win. All the other teams were very impressive competition.

I would like to thank Mary for giving up her time training us and encouraging us. Also I would like to thank Vicky for driving us there and cheering us on at the competition. I thought the other KNS team did really well and I’m very, very, very glad we won!
