Summary of 18 May 2022 Board Meeting

Jacqueline Wee —

The KNS Board met by Zoom on 18 May.

Along with their regular reviews of such things as finance, property, and health and safety, the also Board reviewed the school’s progress on Charter Goal 2 – Tāngata / People. Covid has slowed the school’s progress in some areas – for example, the across-school Ako classes have not restarted yet - but the Board supports the school’s cautious approach to the transition from the Covid ‘Red’ setting to the ‘Orange’ setting. KNS will continue to work on maintaining a strong relationship with parents and caregivers.

The Board also discussed the way the school caters for the needs of the ‘whole child’, not just their academic progress. The Board is working with the Senior Leadership Team to better understand the support KNS provides to students with identified needs. From now on, when the SLT reports to the Board on student achievement, they will also include a report on the type of support the school provides for the ‘whole child’.

The Board’s next meeting will be on 29 June 2022, at 6.30pm. The agenda for the meeting will be published on the school’s website a day or two before the meeting. Board meetings are open to the public. The Board hopes to meet in person in June.
