Message from the Principal

Jacqueline Wee —

Kia ora tātou

This Friday marks the end of Term 2, the mid-point of the school year.

COVID has made the first half of 2022 challenging, thank you for your patience and understanding as we have dealt with high numbers of students and staff being absent, your support has been hugely appreciated. I am also very grateful to our staff team who have kept school as ‘normal’ as possible, for our children.

It was great to see some of you at our Kāhui Ako’s information evening held last Wednesday. The focus was on ‘Navigating the Adolescent Years’ and was led by Kathryn Berkett. We hope to provide the opportunity for parents/caregivers to hear her speak again later in the year. If we do manage to hold another session, I would highly recommend that all parents/caregivers attend. My children are now all in their twenties, I wish I had heard Kathryn speak 15 years ago.

This afternoon you will be able to access your child’s mid-year Learning Letter on Hero. The letter is a summary of your child’s progress and achievement in the first half of the year. Hero is a new system, so please contact Jacqueline Wee jwee@kns.school.nz , if you have any problems accessing the Learning Letter.

If you have any questions about the contents of the Learning Letter, please contact your child's teacher.

Please remember to encourage your children to take part in the PTA’s Weta Workshop Competition, the closing date for entries is now Sunday 24 July. In the unlikely event of wet weather, this could be a great way to spend a few hours over the holidays. Further details about the competition can be found in this newsletter.

Term 3 - Staff only Day (Friday 26 August)

Please note that we will be holding a staff only day on Friday 26 August, school will be closed for students on this day.
