COVID – Mask Wearing and Informing Us if Your Child Tests Positive

Jacqueline Wee —

Our COVID numbers have remained lower than Term 1. As of yesterday, we have 22 positive student cases and 75 children who have returned to school having tested positive earlier in the term. Please remember to let us know if your child tests positive for COVID, you can do this by emailing our school office, office@kns.school.nz .

For at least, the early part of Term 3, we will be continuing with our current practices around mask wearing at KNS. We still have student and staff cases, and advice from the MoE is that that masks continue to be strongly encouraged when indoors.

Please see our expectations around mask wearing below:

· If your child is in Year 4, 5, 6, 7 or 8 they should continue to bring a mask to school and wear it whenever they are indoors, unless they have a mask exemption.

· We want the decision as to whether children continue to wear a mask, to be made by their parents/caregivers and would appreciate it if you would ensure that your children understand your expectations. Please try to be as clear as possible with your child that you either; want them to wear a mask when they are indoors or you do not wish them to do this. Your support and understanding is greatly appreciated.

· To minimise unnecessary issues arising, when our staff are encouraging our Year 4 to 8 children to wear masks, please let us know if you do not want your Year 4 to 8 child to wear a mask. If you do not wish your child to wear a mask, please email office@kns.school.nz and your child’s teacher.

Please ensure your children bring their own masks to school and ensure they have a extras in their bag in case they lose or break them.

As always if you need any support or have any questions, please contact one of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT):
