Kia ora tātou

Last night was a huge success as we came together to celebrate Matariki. It was wonderful to see everyone engaged in all the activities. We haven’t had the chance to come together in a long time so it was great to celebrate as one and rebuild that sense of community. A special thanks to Wilhelmina Wooff, Fiona Campbell, Adrienne Troughton, and Hemi Prime for all of the work they put into organising the evening. Thank you to the staff for facilitating the activities, the Extension Kapa Haka group for opening the evening and the PTA for the sausage sizzle. But mostly, thank you to you, our amazing community for coming out and supporting the event.

Yesterday 50 KNS students traveled to Kilbirnie pool to represent the school at the Western Zone swimming sports. A big thank you to the staff involved in organising the trip and the parents and staff that were there on the day to support the team.

It is National Volunteer week/Te Wiki Tūao ā-Motu this week and we want to take this opportunity to thank all of our fantastic KNS volunteers. A lot of what we do here at KNS would not happen without all of the support we receive from our community. Belinda has compiled an excellent list of volunteers on our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/karorinormalschool

Whakataukī o te wiki (Proverb of the Week)

Ka mahuta a Matariki i te pae,

Ka mahuta ō tatou tūmanako ki te tau

When Matariki rises above the horizon, our aspirations rise to the year ahead.
