CLASS LISTS FOR 2024 (Following is a copy of the email that was sent to the community on 9th February)

The Parent Teacher's Association (PTA) collate class lists each year to give families the opportunity to contact each other for play dates and to arrange class get togethers.

This year we will be asking you whether you are happy to share the contact information that the school has for you in order to create the class lists. This should make agreeing to be on the class list easier as it saves you repeating your contact information.

Here's the form - https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfQyKEgxVMtyn6uIQlY4Prnc0ZRs-ibzq_CnlaKT_sZnXvrnw/viewform

We are also asking for class co-ordinators (particularly New Entrants to Year 3) and for people to help us out on the PTA. Please read the letter from Hamish, a recent new member of the committee, for more about us.

ABOUT THE PTA ( Please consider attending out 1st meeting for 2024 - 7.30 pm Wed 28th Feb in the KNS Staff Room )

Hi, I’m Hamish Cameron, KNS old-boy, and dad of Oliver (year 5) and Finlay (year 3). Last year I joined the KNS PTA and I’m writing today to encourage you to consider doing the same.

The PTA is a group of parents and teachers who work together to make our school more welcoming, inclusive, and to raise funds for improved facilities, resources and opportunities for the school community. You’ll have seen us at the KNS Gala, and you might also know that we organise enormously successful fundraising events like the Read-a-thon, school calendars, and Yummy apple sticker collection, and community events like the school picnic and organising class coordinators. Last year the PTA donated c.$15k to the school for the benefit of the school and the school community.

While we have a formal structure, and certain roles require, for example, financial or organisational skills, the main requirement is that you are enthusiastic. The role of running our fundraising and community events is often shared between PTA members. The commitment required (we know that everyone is busy!) is very manageable and – invariably – highly enjoyable.

It’s never easy doing something for the first time and I’ll admit to being a little nervous about meeting with a group of people I might have seen around the playground, but didn’t otherwise know particularly well. However, I was warmly welcomed by a wonderful group of people who are all motivated to help the school and the school community. One year on, I love being part of the PTA and helping with the terrific work that it does.

I sincerely hope you’ll consider joining us. We meet at 7.30pm on the last Wednesday of each month in the KNS staff room. Please do come along to our next meeting on 28th February to find out more about what we do, and how you can help. We would love to see you.

Regards

Hamish
