E te whānau, tēnā koutou katoa,

A huge thank you to our whole school community for your support of last Friday’s fundraising, in support of the Cyclone Gabrielle relief efforts. Money is still coming in and we will have a grand total to share with you, in next week’s newsletter.

Our staff meeting this week was led by the local Resource Teachers for Learning and Behaviour (RTLBs). The focus of the meeting was ‘The Science of Reading’. The RTLBs shared the history of reading teaching in New Zealand and how brain research is informing current thinking around how best to teach reading. Although our achievement levels at KNS are high, it is important that we ensure our staff have continual learning opportunities and that we are looking for ways to improve our practice.

KNS PTA

We are very fortunate at KNS to have a very active PTA who, along with fundraising, have a focus on building community. This role is very important to maintaining our culture of parents/caregivers and staff working together to create a great environment for our tamariki.

Please remember that if you have any questions or concerns, to get in touch with us. If you haven’t been able to meet your child’s teacher, please feel free to make contact, it’s important that we work together to make 2023 a year in which our tamariki, ‘be the best they can be’. (Waiho i te toipoto, kaua i te toiroa - Let us keep close together, not wide apart). As always if you need any support or have any questions, please contact one of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT):
