SQUASH
School squash season is in action with lots of opportunities for KKC squash players to represent!
TVSS Squash Teams
Held in Matamata, there was a good turnout from the Thames Valley schools but due to a mix of grading abilities the tournament was divided into Graded Mixed, J Grade Boys & J Grade Girls and Ungraded boys and girls. This meant some very tough games for our lower graded players but they stepped up and had a great day. Hamish Tanner made the final against Le Sueur Van Der Byl and won making him the TVSS Squash Champion. The team consisted of Hamish Tanner, Quentin Pearson, Charlotte Tanner, Kendall Young (Graded Mixed), Caleb Walis, Tyler Wells, (J Grade Boys).
BOP Girls Individuals Squash
Unfortunately due to the long delay in traffic our top graded girl Charlotte Tanner missed her first match and had to take a default, but she won all her other games to come 3rd overall. Anthea Bowden won Division with Kendall Young in 3rd. Kaylie Clark won the Plate.
BOP Boys Individuals Squash
Five boys attended this tournament and played very well indeed. Hamish Tanner came 3rd overall, with Quentin Pearson winning the Plate. Also in the team were Caleb Wallis, Blake Stevens and Tyler Wells.Coming up next is the BOP Teams event for Girls and Boys for teams of 3.
Badminton
The TVSS Mixed Teams event was held at the Te Aroha Events Centre and KKC entered two teams. Each team consisted of 2 boys and 2 girls and each match format was boys doubles, girls doubles and mixed doubles. Another very good day with the two KKC teams meeting in the final with only a couple of losses along the way. The top team of Taurian McConnochie, Anouk Sayer, Zong-Yu Hsieh & Alize Sayer just took the final match 3-1. It was an intense and competitive match and very entertaining to watch.
Waikato Swimming
Well done to Liam May and Regan Le Cheminant who qualified to swim at the Waikato Secondary Schools Championships in Hamilton. Liam was 2nd in 100m freestyle, 4th in his 50m free & 4th in 50m backstroke Regan was 10th fastest in 50m free and 100m IM. The two boys results gave KKC 9th school overall out of 15 schools which is excellent.
Wai-Bop Cross Country
Of our 7 runners that qualified to run at WAI-BOP, just Taylan Sharp went forward to compete against the combined Waikato and Tauranga schools at Waipuna Park, Welcome Bay. Running in the Year 9 boys race he finished 36 from 51 in an extremely fast race. Excellent result for his first time.
