For the first time in Katikati the opportunity arose to have  combined sponsorship to support our local childrens' writing. With the help of the Western Bay Museum and the Returned Service Association we were able to link our learning to the commemoration of WW1 100 years.

All schools responded to the invitation to write a story or a poem for the theme.  We were able to show how successful our students can be with their writing. On the night of the presentations it was obvious that all children attending had been enthusiastic in their research of the topic because there was not a shuffle or distracted child as we listened to the re-telling of the war horses' story and the plans for Katikati during WW2 .

• 3rd - Kyah Tawhiti

Senior

• 1st - Kristen Corbett
• 2nd = - Phoebe Robertson and Lillian Kumar
  

This event was so successful we have been asked to hold it again next year.
