Upcoming Drama events

Bianca Till —

It has recently been extremely busy for the Drama students at Katikati College. With regional competitions and numerous performance showcases coming up, they have been working their hardest to produce extremely high-quality performances.

There are several performance nights coming up that we would love the community to come and watch. It is a true showcase of how hard these students work and the talent that is hidden inside our College.

The Year 13 Production will be taking place on Thursday May 23 at 7.00 p.m. in the College Hall. It is Samuel Beckett's "Waiting for Godot".

Two men stand, waiting on a barren road for a man who seemingly is never going to come. Over two days they sit, they pace, they repeat themselves and are stumbled upon by other travelers. But more importantly, they wait. Wait for Godot.
Waiting for Godot is an exploration from one of the greatest playwrights in history. It explains on a fundamental level what it means to search for meaning.

Year 12 and 11 productions are also taking place a week later, on Tuesday May 28 at 7.00 p.m. in the College Hall.

The Year 12 students are doing a production of Michelanne Forster’s "Daughters of Heaven"'.

Two teenage girls conspire to murder the mother of one of them. Based on the notorious 1954 Parker-Hulme murder, this script explores the breakdown of one moral universe and its replacement with another that is potent, powerful and, ultimately, tragic.

The Year 11s have several short performances. These encompasse Victorian Melodrama as well as Commedia Dell'arte to give a large variety of mood and style to the evening.
